After the initial impact, the Delrin® sliders provide a surface that reduces friction. In a loss-of-control event, this sliding is desirable; plain steel can “dig in” to pavement, causing the motorcycle to flip. The sliders are replaceable (P/N) 103-0020), so minor mishaps come with minor costs.
